Understanding Sale Cycles Can Save You Money

Sale cycle refers to how often a given item goes on sale. Most grocery store products are on differing sale cycles. There are many factors that influence these cycles. Seasons, holidays, special occasions, monthly promotions, corporate marketing, new product and new packaging are just a few. In general terms you can expect an item to go on sale every 12 weeks. Some items will rotate through various sales within that 12 weeks. For example:

  • week 1 – regular price
  • week 2 – % off
  • week 3 – BOGO
  • week 4 – regular price
  • week 5 – 2 for $x
  • week 6 – weekly sale promo
  • week 7 – regular price
  • week 8 – specialty sale
  • week 9 – 10 for $10 type sale
  • week 10 – regular price
  • week 11 – % off
  • week 12 – regular price
  • repeat

Knowing when a product will be at its lowest price means you can stockpile those items for optimal savings. To see a month by month list of when your favorite products may go on sale click here. What else do you want to know or can you share about sale cycles?
